7 Jermaine Pennant: The former Liverpool, Stoke and Arsenal forward made his name in England for his controversies. He was arrested in 2005 for driving without insurance and convicted. He was later sentenced to 3 months in prison by the court. On his return after 30 days, he wore an electric tag in a match against Tottenham Hotspur.

6 Duncan Ferguson: He is one of football’s all-time gangsters. During his playing days at Everton, he was no one’s of role model. In 1995, he butted opponent, John McStay and left him with a cut lip. That landed him a 3 month prison sentence. That made him the first footballer to be jailed for an on-field assault.




5 Lee Hughes: Hughes, a former West Bromwich Albion player, was sentenced to six years in prison for killing a 56-year-old man in a car accident in 2004. He served JUST half of the jail term.





Ched Evans: The former Manchester city and Wales striker was released by Sheffield United after being wrongly convicted for rape in 2013 and was later sentenced to a 5 year jail term. He went on to spend to half of the jail term. His conviction was later quashed in in 2016 by the court of appeal. He was later not found guilty earlier this month. 3 Tony Adams: The former Arsenal player had a blissful career in the English Premier League. He was imprisoned for drink-driving after crashing a garden wall just before Christmas in 1990

2 Joey Barton:  The former QPR man was popular for his controversies and disciplinary problems. He was sentenced to 6 months in prison in May 2008 after pleading guilty for his involvement in an assault in December 2007 in the Liverpool city center which he eventually served 77 days of the term. 2 months later; He was  sentenced to a 4 month term for assault  on teammate Ousmane Dabo during a training ground bust-up



1 Adam Johnson : Former Sunderland and Man city forward is currently serving a 6-year jail term for  sexual activity with an under-age girl. He was sentenced in May 2016 when the Judge told him he abused his position and caused his victim psychological harm.
